Tattoo of Awesomeness

So Kim is terminal. She has between 2 weeks and a couple months left. One of the things she wanted to do was get a tattoo and she and Mel had been discussing it for a while and when they told me I decided I wanted one too. Mel was a bit thingie about me getting one as well, but explained that it was more from a selfish perspective rather than anything against me.

I wanted it because I didn't really know Kim before she got sick and I'm not as close to her as Mel is. I was scared of forgetting her which is completely illogical but it was there and it was a way for me to be close to her, even in 20 years time.

On Saturday we went and got Mel's done, because Kim needed a doctor's cert to get her's done and by the time they'd done Mel's we needed to leave so that Mel could go to a hen's night. Sunday we all went back and Kim and I got ours done.

It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, its a little red now but all in all it looks great. Kinda weird getting used to the idea of 'me with a tattoo'

Goals of 2008

At the beginning of the year I put down a list of goals for the year. Sad to say I haven't really done any of them.

1. Finish a cross stitch - This one will still be done by the end of the year as its a present for my mum. Its just it wasn't the cross stitch I had in mind when I said I'd finish one.

2. Write an astrology paper on Neptune/Uranus/Pluto - Had to pick one for my astrology class, wanted to do all 3. Have just done Pluto to day.

3. Read Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park - Have not managed any of these. I tried but couldn't get into them. I did try though.

4. Write 3 short stories - none to date

5. Get a new computer - did this one! Yay!

6. Eliminated Credit Card Debt - definately not managed this one. I'm about $6k in now, partly cause of the wedding etc.

7. Lost 10kgs - Nope, I'm about the same as I was in March, going up a little and back down again.

Now I feel as though I've done nothing this year so maybe I should create a list of what I've done just so I don't freak out...
  1. Gotten Married
  2. Got a House
  3. Got 2 kitties
  4. Coping with Kim being sick
  5. Quit WoW
  6. Watched
    1. Stargate Atlantis
    2. Supernatural
    3. Lost
    4. Heroes
    5. Fringe
    6. Gossip Girl
    7. Some of McLeod's Daughters
    8. Sanctuary
    9. Grey's Anatomy
  7. Started running again
  8. Worked lots
Doesn't seem like much still...

Craft Projects

So its come to my attention that I haven't actually completed a craft project since before I went to Singapore in 2004. I have 5 craft projects on the go at the moment and I really shouldn't start a new one until these are done.
  1. Original Quilt (Created back in like 2002 - 2003, the top is all together, just have to do the backing quilting and binding)
  2. 21st Quilt (My 21st was in April 2004 and all the blocks are still blocks. I really should combine them)
  3. Enchantress Cross-stitch (Working on this one for AAAAAAAAGES)
  4. Mum's Christmas present (Needless to say this needs to be done by Christmas. But its about 1/2 done at the moment so another couple days of sewing should finish it)
  5. Cross stitch given to me by K (Haven't started it yet, was focusing on the Enchantress one)
I really need to get back into the habit of sewing while watching TV and given that we're watching at least one episode of supernatural a night at the moment thats a good 40 minutes of sewing time.

The quilts will be a little harder as they require sewing machines or me figuring out how to quilt (or machine quilt as the case may be).

Garden

Well our grass is kinda growing a lot and as we don't have a whippersnipper to cut it yet theres not that much we can do about it. Kinda amused at how quick its growing though considering it is supposed to be a drought!

Theres a rose bush in the back garden but I have no idea what kind of rose it is so I took a picture of it. Maybe Mum can tell me.

I planted tomatoes! Now to watch them grow. The ones in this pot supposedly grow up and need the additional support.

While the ones in this pot are supposed to trail along the ground.
